BEN Thompson insists Millwall have the cohesion in their dressing room to bounce back from successive league defeats and earn a first win in six league games when they face Huddersfield next Saturday.
The Lions have nine points, eight games into the 2019-20 campaign, their bright start having faded.
Millwall lost 2-1 at home to QPR on Saturday. Bart Bialkowski’s error gifted Nahki Wells his second goal, the winner for Mark Warburton’s side.
“It’s gutting,” Thompson admitted. “I thought at 1-1 we looked strong and were threatening. The mistake happens but Bart will save us more times than he’ll cost us this season. We’ve just got to take it on the chin and move on to the next one.
“He can’t dwell on that, he’s a great keeper, everyone knows that. It was a tough one to take for him.
“As a team we weren’t the best. We’ve got to do better, me included.
“We need to bounce back. We’ve had a couple of bad results now and we need to get to grasp with the Championship and push on.”
“It hurts. We don’t come here to lose games, we don’t want to lose games. We want the points, it’s crucial to get them early on in the season to set us up.
“Look, we’ve had a few bad results, they haven’t gone our way but we need bounce back and we’ve got a great set of lads. They want it so much, they’re such a caring group and give it everything on the pitch, every day in training, on match-day.
“The results haven’t been going our way so we need to fix something, something has to change. Hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll get some more points.”
Huddersfield have one point from eight games ahead of the visit of the Lions, who haven’t won away yet this season.
Thompson added: “It’s massive, we go away from home and need to pick up our away form. Definitely, we can go to Huddersfield and get the points. They’re not doing so great at the moment. We need to bounce back massively and we’ve got enough in the dressing room to do so.”
