NEIL Harris isn’t worried about the state of the Rochdale pitch – after they had two games called off in the last two weeks.
Dale’s scheduled fixture against Southend was postponed on January 20 after persistent rain and sleet, despite it having been covered to protect the surface.
And last Tuesday, after a pitch inspection the previous day, their league clash against Wigan wasn’t give the go-ahead.
The club have had the pitch covered again, and today asked fans on Twitter to help with the “drill & fill” process which drains excess water from the surface. The last Rochdale fixture at Spotland was on January 9.
However, Harris insisted his side would “get on with it”.
“It doesn’t worry me at all, we played on pitches like that the last two years in League One,” Harris said. “We played up there last year and had a very entertaining 3-3 draw. We were excellent on the night.
“In a lot of ways the pitch could suit us more than them. We’re looking forward to it, it’s the same for both teams.
“We make no bones as a Millwall team what surface we’re playing on, we just get on with it.”
Harris made nine changes for the 2-2 draw against Keith Hill’s side last Saturday week, but was keeping his cards close to his chest over his team selection at Spotland.
He said: “I might go for the same team again because the performance at the weekend [against Reading] was that good. I’ll make that decision tomorrow afternoon. I’ll leave it late to see how players are.
“There might be a change of formation for this game. We changed after an hour at home and could have scored eight goals.
“There is lots for me to consider.”
