Police pounced on Bermondsey’s Four Squares estate early this morning as part of a crackdown on drugs pouring into the City.
A local resident said they were awoken by an “almighty boom” at 7.45am – and looked out to see the walkways teeming with officers clad in protective armour, on Wednesday, July 12.
City of London Police confirmed it had arrested three men in coordinated swoops across Rotherhithe, Waterloo and Bermondsey “following a serious organised crime investigation”.
The local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “There was an almighty boom which woke me and my partner.
“We looked out of the window, heard loads of shouting and saw police storming the house.”
A City of London Police spokesperson said: “Three men have been arrested following a serious organised crime investigation into the supply of drugs in the City.
“The arrests were made in Bermondsey, Waterloo and Rotherhithe during early morning warrants. All three remain in custody.”
