Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festival returns this week for its 12th year – and is once again live after moving online during lockdown.
The programme kicks off with a series of short films curated by Deptford Cinema and screened at Nunhead’s Ivy House Pub on Thursday, September 9.
Running until September 19, the festival will close with the world premier of Alien on Stage at Peckhamplex.
A rarely seen gothic version of Beauty and the Beast will be screened in Nunhead Cemetery, Life’s a Beach will be put on at Peckham Riviera, and Veolia Waste Management Centre will host environmental film 2040.
Other premieres include London musician and ResonanceFM DJ Art Terry’s Self Isolation Songbook at the Old Nun’s Head, the award-winning Ray at the Copleston Centre and The Devil and Daniel Johnston at the Ivy House. Meanwhile, a double bill at The Green features Riding a Dream – featuring Peckham jockey Khadija Mellah of Goodwood fame – and Saudi Arabian film Wadjda.
