A Peckham school which caters for excluded children has won a prestigious architecture award.
Southwark Inclusive Learning Service (SILS) 3, on Davey Street just south of Burgess Park, is among the winners of this year’s Royal Institute of British Architects’ London South East award.
Award organisers said: The new building is inviting – comfortable, light, spacious and airy – while also being secure and tough. The atmosphere is one of simplicity and calm…
“Certainly, such an optimistic and special environment can only improve the life chances of its students.”
SILS has three locations – the Peckham school, and a school on Porlock Street in Borough, covering key stage 3 and 4 respectively. The school works with children who have been excluded, or are at risk of being excluded.
