Bermondsey has been declared the third-best place to live in London, while being heralded as a “hipster paradise.”
The chart, which dismissively said that the days of “Millwall-supporting mean streets” were long gone, placed Bermondsey behind Fitzrovia and Barnes.
Two years ago, Bermondsey had actually come top in the list, which is put together by the Sunday Times. Bermondsey, according to the feature, had undergone a “Shoreditch-style transformation from Millwall-supporting mean streets to urban hipster paradise.”
The article also praised Vauxhall as being the “new Clapham” – a title it had given to both Dulwich and Peckham in previous years.
The annual feature is compiled using crime data, house prices and school performance.
