MILLWALL could be in the Championship’s bottom three before Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton – but Neil Harris won’t be telling his players to avoid looking at results.
Harris accepts that, with nine games left for his side, his players are looking out for other results, and after the 2-0 win at Birmingham on Wednesday they were checking how relegation rivals Rotherham did at QPR.
Harris isn’t concerned by that or what happens this weekend in the Championship, ahead of their attempt to reach the last four of the FA Cup.
He said Millwall’s rivals would not have expected them to win at St Andrew’s this week.
Rotherham face Norwich at home, Wigan host Bolton, while Reading travel to Stoke.
“It’ll be tough not to look at the results, when you’ve got social media, Sky Sports and whatever else,” Harris said. “Between now and the end of the season, that’s what it is. The first thing the players did when they came in was look at the Rotherham score.
“Other clubs sitting at home tonight, managers, players, fans, were thinking, ‘Millwall, what a tough game they have, they ain’t going to win at Birmingham’. Well we have. Rotherham had a tough game away at QPR and they’ve gone and won there as well.
“All we can do is take care of ourselves, and hope for a bit of help along the way, but if you don’t win your own games you’re not going to achieve anything anyway.
“You mention Brighton, we’ve got to worry about ourselves going in against Brighton.
“Dropping into the bottom three at the weekend? I can’t control that. I can only control what I can control and that becomes our focus towards Sunday.”
