NEIL Harris believes a point against Cardiff could prove to be a good result for Millwall come the end of the season.
The Lions created the better chances in South Wales but were held to a goalless draw by a Bluebirds side with nothing to play for this term.
Millwall are now four points behind Rotherham, who could yet face a deduction from the Football League, with three games to play.
Asked if he was disappointed not to have taken maximum points, Harris said: “Yeah, definitely. I thought we deserved them in the second half.
“We were outstanding in the second half – we created numerous opportunities to get into good positions and fashioned some chances to score.
“We tweaked it slightly at half time to get higher up the pitch and create more chances, and as you can see my players took that on board and it worked.
“We weren’t at our best in the first half so I asked the players for a little bit more quality and to move the ball in a different manner.
“We were just missing that final bit of quality but it could be a good point and the players are pleased.
“To get to 40 points is a big hurdle to get over. The teams above us are looking over their shoulders.
“We know we have to win some games but the teams above us need to as well. At the moment we’re showing our capabilities to win matches.”
The Lions’ best opportunity fell to substitute Gary Taylor-Fletcher but the Leicester loanee couldn’t make contact with Ricardo Fuller’s cut-back.
“Gaz is disappointed in there that he didn’t score – as are a few of the boys who had chances,” Harris added.
“The pleasing thing is we’re creating chances.
“The two subs made a difference up front – Ricardo and Gaz – as did Magaye Gueye, so they were positive changes.
“If we’d got one goal, we’d have gone and got two or three.”
Millwall’s cause could be helped by a three-point deduction for Rotherham, who have been charged for fielding an ineligible player.
And Harris was asked when he expects to learn the outcome of a Football League disciplinary committee which is investigating the matter.
He said: “I know as much as you guys.
“We’ll be told as and when. The good thing is we’re back in the mix. A points deduction would certainly aid us. We can’t control that. We’ll just look at ourselves.”
