MILLWALL manager Neil Harris said David Worrall will be missed in the dressing room after the parties agreed to a mutual termination of his contract this week.
The Lions confirmed before Tuesday night’s 3-1 defeat to Reading in the EFL Cup that Worrall had left the club.
Worrall, 27, joined the Lions last summer on a free transfer from Southend but struggled to hold down a first-team place.
He made just 18 starts in all competitions and scored two goals. Worrall featured once this season, in the first-round EFL Cup win over Stevenage.
Worrall was given time off during last season after his and his partner’s new-born child suffered some health complications.
He is now free to talk to other clubs.
Harris also let Sid Nelson leave for Yeovil on loan, and hasn’t ruled out adding to his squad before August 31.
He said: “Possibly. My squad was too big before [Monday]. Sid has gone to Yeovil which is a great move for him to play some football.
“Dave’s Millwall career started brilliantly, then he had a setback, family-wise, and he stuttered. Second half of the season he couldn’t get into the team.
“Dave is a brilliant fellow. He’s a great trainer and massively popular in the dressing room.
“He is a real spirited fellow, we’re going to miss him and we wish him all the best for his next move, whenever that comes about.
“And we thank him for his efforts.
“I’ve still got a healthy squad. I made 10 changes [Tuesday night] and they were ten senior players.
“I was really pleased with their efforts.”
