ADAM Barrett says his spell in charge has given him a “real insight” into management as he looks forward to being part of Gary Rowett’s backroom staff.
Barrett, 39, was in charge of Millwall for the last three games as they took three points off Leeds and a point against Cardiff, either side of a defeat against Brentford.
Barrett reflected on his caretaker role following Neil Harris’ departure.
He said: “It hasn’t put me off, I can’t lose any more hair, so that’s a positive! I’ve really enjoyed it and I’ve tasted every emotion the last two-and-a-half weeks.
“There was the high of beating Leeds at home to the low of losing to Brentford, to tonight and a hard-fought, digging-in draw.
“It hasn’t put me off at all, it’s been a real learning curve and it’s given me a great insight into.
“I’m just looking forward to the new manager coming in and working and learning from him. I’m looking forward to moving the football club forward.”
Meanwhile, Barrett gave an update on Ryan Leonard, who injured his knee against Leeds.
“There’s no timescale, it’s going to be a good few weeks, though. The news was a little bit more disappointing than we thought but I haven’t got an exact time frame on it.
“He’ll be getting assessed by the specialist and hopefully we can trim that [time out] down because he’s a big loss to us.
“When you haven’t got him you appreciate him more, he does a lot of good work and a lot of hard work.”
