TOM King kept a clean sheet on his AFC Wimbledon debut – leaving Joey Barton frustrated after his first game in charge of Fleetwood Town.
King, 23, is on a season-long loan with the Dons, and he made the perfect start as Fleetwood had eight shots on target but couldn’t find a way past the big stopper.
The visitors struck the only goal of the game an hour in through Joe Piggott. Former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder Barton, 35, was the highest profile appointment in League One this summer, but has to wait for his first win as a manager.
Lions defender James Brown was involved in the biggest game of his life so far, making his debut for Livingston in front of an attendance of 58,778 at Parkhead.
Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller’s newly promoted Livingston understandably struggled against a Celtic side beginning their eighth defence of the Scottish Premier League title.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were 3-0 up by the 50th minute through goals from Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard and Olivier Ntcham before Scott Robinson scored a 93rd-minute consolation.
In League One, Sid Nelson was on the bench for Swindon for whom Michael Doughty scored 96th and 98th-minute penalties for a dramatic 3-2 win over Macclesfield. Former Lions striker Harry Smith played up front for the beaten side.
Meanwhile, in the National League, Harry Donovan made his debut for Dagenham & Redbridge, who lost 1-0 at Boreham Wood.
