MILLWALL have agreed a deal to sign Jon Dadi Bodvarsson from fellow Championship side Reading on a permanent deal.
The Icelandic international, who has won 41 caps for his country, becomes the Lions’ sixth signing of the summer and bolsters their attacking department after Matt Smith was brought in from Queens Park Rangers. Alex Pearce, Frank Fielding, Tyler Burey and Connor Mahoney have also arrived in a busy window.
Bodvarsson, who can play up front or out wide, started his playing career in Iceland, spending three years at his hometown club Selfoss before making the move to Norwegian side Viking.
The 27-year-old then signed for Kaiserslautern before attracting the attention of Wolves and former Millwall manager Kenny Jackett after a successful Euro 2016, where he started all five matches, including the memorable 2-1 victory over England as Iceland reached the quarter-finals.
After a season at Wolves he joined the Royals and scored 16 goals in 55 appearances, including a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Stevenage in an FA Cup replay.
But last season was overshadowed by injuries for Bodvarsson, who missed six weeks after breaking a bone in his back before suffering a calf problem in February, which saw his campaign come to a premature end.
Bodvarsson found the net seven times in his first 12 matches in 2018-2019, including braces against both Blackburn and Brentford.
The attacker is set to join his new team-mates on Friday ahead of their flight to their training base in Portugal.
