ALEX Pearce said the decision to award Millwall a penalty in their 2-1 in over Leeds United last weekend was “swings and roundabouts” – as Whites defender Guetano Berardi had his one-match ban rescinded.
Berardi was sent off for a 14th-minute foul on Tom Bradshaw, with referee James Linington judging that he had denied the striker a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Jed Wallace scored from the resulting penalty.
There didn’t appear to be much contact between Berardi and Bradshaw.
“It’s swings and roundabouts, some weeks you get them and some weeks you don’t,” Pearce said. “Over the course of a season it all balances itself out.
“There could be an argument that it was harsh, there could be an argument that you’ve seen them given.
“There have been certain times when we’ve been harshly done by this season and possibly times when we’ve been lucky. Saturday, you could possibly argue that, but I think we earned that luck from the way that we were playing in that first half.”
Bradshaw will not face punishment over the incident.
