MILLWALL are being linked with a move for Northern Ireland international defender Conor McLaughlin, according to a report on Sunday.
Lions boss Neil Harris is in the market for a right-back, and McLaughlin is available on a free transfer after leaving Fleetwood Town.
The League One club had offered McLaughlin, 25, a new deal after the three-year contract he signed in 2014 expired, but they withdrew it last week.
Former Preston defender McLaughlin told Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler he wanted to play in the Championship after five seasons with the Cod Army and that he had a number of options.
The Sun have claimed that Millwall are one of the clubs interested in him.
Mahlon Romeo is currently Millwall’s only contracted senior right-back, with Shaun Cummings out of contract and expected to depart the club.
McLaughlin would fit the bill – a young defender with international experience, he started Northern Ireland’s first game at Euro 2016 alongside Lions winger Shane Ferguson.
Harris has already added international quality to his defence after Australian international James Meredith’s move from Bradford.
NewsAtDen understands there is firm interest in McLaughlin ahead of what could be a busy week for the Lions.
George Saville’s move from Wolverhampton Wanderers could be confirmed on Monday.
Millwall are also set to announce the permanent transfer of Jed Wallace next week.
