MILLWALL have terminated the contract of their Australian international left-back James Meredith.
Meredith, 31, has not been involved in pre-season and was not given a squad number for the 2019-20 Championship campaign.
The former Derby defender joined Millwall from Bradford on a free transfer in the summer of 2017 and started every league game the following season.
Meredith signed a new long-term deal with the club following his debut campaign. He said at the time: “It’s nice, I’m really happy to agree terms, sign again and further my career at Millwall.
“We’ve got a really exciting future here.”
He lost his spot to Murray Wallace last season but returned to the first-team fold when the Scot suffered a season-ending injury.
Meredith’s last appearance was in the last game of the season, a 1-0 defeat at Wigan after the Lions had secured their Championship status.
Meredith is now free to move to another club.
