MILLWALL want to get most of their transfer business done before they leave for their pre-season training camp in Portugal in early July.
James Meredith and Tom Elliott will be on that trip, and Lions boss Neil Harris hopes they will be joined by Jed Wallace and Jake Cooper.
Millwall are also interested in Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard.
It will be the third year in a row that Harris has brought his players to Portugal, and he is hoping he will be working with his full squad for the 2017-18 Championship season.
“They’re going back to where they were last year in Portugal,” Millwall CEO Steve Kavanagh said. “They enjoyed it, it was a great environment.
“We set it up several months ago before we knew which division we would be in. Pre-season is vital and we’re going to try to get most of our business done so that all the players are together before that.
“The vast majority of the squad are all on contracts for next season anyway. We want to get our business done as soon as we can, which is not always possible.
“We want them together so they can bond out in Portugal. That part of pre-season is a crucial part of preparations.
“We will play two games over there. Whether they are in front of fans or not, I don’t know, we haven’t decided that yet. We’re looking at who we play over there.
“It’s more likely that it will be behind closed doors. We will probably be playing English opposition. If we are playing and it’s available then we’ll announce that as soon as we can.”
