LEE Gregory has praised manager Neil Harris for giving confidence to the players – by allowing them to make mistakes.
Gregory said Harris’ predecessor Ian Holloway was less tolerant of errors with the result that players weren’t as comfortable on the ball as they have been this season.
The 27-year-old striker revealed one of the key differences between Millwall’s current manager and Holloway, who was sacked last March after a wretched run of results, is the belief he instils in the side.
Gregory said: “It’s the way he goes about things, putting confidence into the team.
“He’s saying, ‘If you make a mistake you make a mistake, it’s okay, we get on with it, we work as a team’. With Holloway not one mistake can be made.
“You’re going to give the ball away, www.mindanews.com/buy-valtrex/ you’re going to lose games, go one down. Obviously you have to try to minimise those mistakes.
“If you’re not afraid to make mistakes you play more comfortably, more confidently.”
Gregory had opportunities against Bury on Saturday to add to the 10 goals he has scored this season but he was twice thwarted in one-on-ones by Shakers shot-stopper Daniel Bachmann.
The forward believes that Harris, as a former striker and Millwall’s record goalscorer, is in the ideal position to pass on the benefit of all his experience to his attacking players.
“We talk a lot in training,” Gregory told Lions Live last week. “He helps me out more than you think.
“It’s better that he played in my position. He helps me a lot, works with me in training.
“It’s helping me a lot more. Credit to the gaffer.”
