JAYSON Molumby was superb as he captained the Republic of Ireland to a 1-0 under-21 European Championship qualifying win over Armenia in Dublin on Friday night.
Tottenham striker Troy Parrott scored the only goal of the game as Molumby showed his class in midfield for Stephen Kenny’s side. Lions right-back Danny McNamara was on the bench.
Ireland travel to Sweden on Tuesday evening as they aim to cement their place at the top of Group 1 of the qualifying series for the 2021 tournament in Hungary and Slovenia.
Lions striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson started and scored Iceland’s third goal in their 3-0 win over Moldova in a European qualifier for the 2020 senior tournament. Iceland are third in Group H, level on 12 points with leaders France and second-placed Turkey after four wins from five games.
Iceland play Albania away in their next group game on Tuesday evening.
Shane Ferguson will hope to be involved as Northern Ireland aim for a fifth consecutive win in Group C, when they host Germany in Belfast on Monday evening.
