SHAUN Williams comes back into contention for a starting spot when Millwall host Blackburn Rovers in a later kick-off this Saturday.
Williams came on against Hull City last weekend for his first appearance since December 2 after being out with an ankle injury.
Millwall were hoping Shaun Hutchinson would be able to train this week despite having a gash in his leg he suffered putting his bins out at home. If the Lions vice-captain remains out then Alex Pearce will continue alongside Jake Cooper in the centre of defence and make his home league debut.
Millwall boss Neil Harris has to decide whether to continue with Murray Wallace at left-back or recall James Meredith.
And with Lee Gregory a doubt, Harris is likely to continue with Tom Elliott and Aiden O’Brien up front, holding Steve Morison in reserve, as Millwall aim to make it five wins in a row in all competitions.
Fred Onyedinma is another attacking option and Ben Thompson could also be included in the match-day squad.
Blackburn Rovers seem to have recovered after a December dip and they defeated West Brom 2-1 on New Year’s Day before following that up by claiming an impressive 1-1 draw at Premier League Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend.
They are now in Millwall’s sights in the league table, and the Lions can reduce the gap between them to three points with a win.
Rovers boss Tony Mowbray knows what to expect at The Den.
“Any time you go to Millwall it’s tough,” Mowbray told his club’s official website.
“They create an environment there, despite the stadium never being full. The noise they make there is uplifting.
“Without stereotyping Millwall, they aren’t too different to what you expect. They put balls in the box, into the strikers and you need to match them on a physical level.
“It’s a game we should look forward to. I’ve spoken about our tough run and Millwall will be another one.
“If we have aspirations of getting into the top half of the division then we will need to go down there and get the points.”
“There’s not been any easy game so far this season, we’ve worked hard for every point,” the manager added.
“That’ll be the same on Saturday, and when I think back to the game between us at Ewood, I remember they hit the post twice in the first half, we were pretty dominant in the second half and it ended 0-0.
“The start of the game they were really on the front foot. I expect the same on Saturday, but let’s hope we play like we did in that second half, and ask questions of them.”
