ADAM Barrett insists Millwall are only focussing on their own game ahead of a Championship weekend that could decide who will contest the play-offs.
The Lions have to win at QPR on Saturday to take the race for the top six to the last day without needing other results to go their way. If Gary Rowett’s side fail to take three points and Swansea don’t beat Bristol City, then Neil Harris’ Cardiff will finish in the top six with a win at Middlesbrough.
Millwall can also still finish fifth, if they win their last two games, Cardiff don’t get more than four points from theirs, and Nottingham Forest lose both their final two fixtures. Goal difference could also then be a factor in deciding final places.
The Lions defeated Blackburn 1-0 on Tuesday to eliminate Rovers from the play-off race. Preston and Bristol City are five points off sixth. Derby have a mathematical chance but it would take a remarkable set of results for the Rams to take the last play-off place.
“We’re two points behind with two to play. Game on. We go to QPR Saturday and we’re in the mix,” Lions assistant Barrett said on Tuesday.
“Cardiff won again but it’s put pressure on them and we have to make sure that we keep getting results.
“It’s two games, it’s almost like a shootout now. You could be out of it on Saturday or you could still be in it going into the last game of the season.
“We’re focussing on us. That’s the most important thing at the moment. Even if the [Cardiff] result had gone our way we’ve still got two games to go and everyone’s still in it.
“There could be twist and turns in the next week as well. We just concentrated on ourselves [Tuesday]. It’s important we stayed focussed to get the job done, and we’re delighted we did.”
