MILLWALL U21s are out of the Premier League Cup after a quarter-final defeat to Hull City at The Den on Tuesday afternoon.
Jamie Philpot gave Justin Skinner’s youngsters the lead in the sixth minute, stroking home a penalty low to Rory Watson’s left after Mikael Ndjoli had been fouled in the box.
Harry Girling made a superb save to tip Max Clark’s free-kick around the post shortly after that, but the keeper couldn’t keep out Johan Ter-Horst’s low shot from 20 yards as Hull equalised in the 32nd minute.
Hull took the lead in the 60th minute when after Jack Powell had lost possession in midfield the ball was quickly transferred to Greg Olley who shot past Girling to the far corner.
Carlos Edwards, who started at right-back as he builds up his match fitness, lasted 60 minutes before being replaced with James Brown.
Kris Twardek tried to find an equaliser for the Lions but his shot from a tight angle in the 66th minute went over the bar.
Substitute Dan Batty made it three nine minutes from time when he poked home from a yard out.
Hull will play Huddersfield Town in the last four.
