Police investigating an incident where a man allegedly beat a supermarket security guard around the head with a bottle of spirit are appealing for the public’s help.
Detectives have now recovered a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the attack.
The image was captured on a train between Tonbridge and Charing Cross, which the pictured man disembarked from at London Bridge.
DC Jo Slevin from the West Kent Police said: “We know that the man pictured got off the train at London Bridge and we believe he was travelling with a woman, who is also shown.
“It is important we identify them, and we continue to urge anyone who may have information to contact us.”
At around 8.40pm on Thursday, September 28, a suspected shoplifter attacked a security guard at a Sainsbury’s in Tonbridge, leaving him with injuries.
The security guard had challenged the man inside the store following suspicions he was trying to steal several bottles of spirits.
The suspect reportedly used one of the bottles as a weapon to repeatedly beat the victim around the head, before fleeing the scene.
One officer described the attack as “appalling” adding that the bottle was used with such force it shattered.
Kent Police issued an initial appeal for information on Thursday, October 19, featuring an image of a man they’d like to speak to.
Detectives have now recovered further images which show the same man on a train travelling from Tonbridge to Charing Cross. He disembarked at London Bridge.
