Canada Water station has celebrated its twentieth anniversary on Monday this week, having opened on August 19, 1999.
Posters in the station informing commuters of the milestone from TfL said: “We’d like to thank you for using our services over the past twenty years.”
The station, which was built as part of the Jubilee Line extension and also serves Overground services, is frequently ranked as one of the Jubilee’s busiest.
According to an analysis of ‘busyness’ by users of Google Maps, the station is the most congested on the line, while concerns have previously been raised to City Hall about platform crowding.
On Saturday, an £80 million grant was announced for transport improvements in the SE16 area, including a second entrance at Surrey Quays, a new station on Surrey Canal Road, and a new route from Canada Water bus station.
