A flat in Forest Hill was completely destroyed in a fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning (November 16).
Some 25 firefighters in four fire engines rushed to tackle the blaze on Dartmouth Street at half-past midnight, putting it out finally by about 1.10am.
Firefighters said they thought the fire was caused by a halogen heater sitting too close to materials that catch fire easily.
Crews from Forest Hill, Beckenham, and West Norwood fire stations attended the incident at the second floor studio flat.
There were no reports of any injuries.
