Did you know that the star of the hit TV drama Happy Valley, which recently came out for its third and final season, has lived in Peckham for many years and is in the running to be the next James Bond?
James Norton, who plays the callous rapist and murderer Tommy Lee Royce in BBC’s Happy Valley, has been vocal in his support for Peckham.
The popular crime series, which premiered in 2014 is back for its third and final season after a six-year break and is gripping viewers with record figures as episodes are released weekly. The final episode will air on Sunday, February 5.
The 37-year-old actor is also known for playing the son of a mafia boss in BBC’s McMafia and a vicar in ITV’s Grantchester.
More recently he can be seen playing a con man in the Netflix thriller, Rogue Agent.
James has lived in Peckham for a while with his now fiancé and fellow actor, Imogen Poots. Although their are rumours that the pair have moved out of the area during his time here, he has not shied away from supporting local causes. In 2016, he appeared in a short film to voice his support for the Peckham Lido crowdfunding project – which seems to have ground to a halt despite raising £63,000, including £10,000 from the council.

James is currently the joint-third favourite in the bookies to become the next Bond. Could a Peckhamite join the hallowed 007 hall of fame?
All episodes of Happy Valley are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
