A Bermondsey care home is planning a cake sale to raise money for Comic Relief, to support people living in poverty.
Everyone at Bluegrove House care home on Southwark Park Road will be dressing up in red and white clothes and taking part in a series of fun activities like an egg and spoon race and board games to show support for the charity on Friday (March 18).
Residents, staff and visitors can come and buy cupcakes and coffee at the care home.
Helen O’Brien, 80, who has lived at Bluegrove House care home for five years, said she is looking forward to the day.
She said: “The day will be a lot of fun all in aid of a really important cause. There’s always a lot of great events here. I’ve always liked to raise money for Comic Relief and other charities”‘.
Pamella Clarke-Dayes, the care home’s manager, said: “We’re really excited to be raising money for Comic Relief. Not only are these events raising money for a good cause, they’re also a lot of fun for our residents to take part in and us to organise!
She added that activities like the cake sale are also good for residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.
