Local historians and theatre companies will collaborate again this year for an Animated History Walk, bringing to life the experiences of Southwark’s residents in the First World War.
The Walworth Society’s fifth history walk – this time working with the People’s Company and Imagine That theatre groups – will meet in Borough High Street on November 11.
From 6.30pm, actors and performers will tell stories of the poignant events of the war through the eyes of local people of the time; researched using collections of the Cuming Museum and Southwark’s archives.
It will also animate the Tate Archive war artists’ digital collection, as part of the Tate Archives and Access Project.
The event will end at the John Harvard Library, with refreshments and a chance to see a display of material from the Cuming and Tate.
The event is free but booking is essential, with places limited to 60 on the tour. For free tickets, search online using the URL code “http://bit.ly/2dYV3ar”.
