LEE Gregory wasn’t pulling out any excuses after Millwall’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday.
Gregory felt the Lions simply were “not good enough” and not “at it”, but he insisted performances show that like last season “results will come” away from home.
Millwall have just two points from eight away games this season.
They had chances in the first half against Brentford, the best through centre-backs Shaun Hutchinson and Jake Cooper, but after going two goals down they could have conceded more as the Bees created several more scoring opportunities.
“Not good enough. All over the park we just weren’t at it and they were. We made two mistakes and they scored,” Gregory said.
“Yeah we had chances and maybe it’s a different game if they go in, but we need to be picking up clean sheets away from home, and unfortunately we didn’t.
“We’re really confident at home. We did the exact same thing last year, winning at home, losing away. Maybe we need that lucky win away from home just to kick-start us.”
It was suggested to Gregory that Millwall’s defensive performance was a positive as they came under pressure in the first half but went into the break scoreless, but he replied: “We lost 2-0 so no, not really.
“I’m disappointed. We just weren’t good enough away from home and we need to change that, especially going into next week.”
Millwall face second-placed Norwich City at Carrow Road next Saturday. Gregory stressed there isn’t any need to worry at this stage of the season.
“No, not at all. We’re performing week-in, week-out. Okay, [Saturday] wasn’t the best performance, but we perform week-in, week-out and results will come. It’s just about being patient and we’ll get there.”
