MILLWALL manager Neil Harris urged his side to continue to focus on shaping their own fate after Saturday’s win over Bury at Gigg Lane.
The Lions only need one point to guarantee a play-off spot with two games left to play, while also having an outside chance of making an immediate return to the Championship via the second automatic promotion place.
And Harris is solely focused on winning the next game, and finishing as high as is possible with only six points left to play for.
“We are just looking at winning games,” Harris said. “I just want us to finish as high as we can, we just want to win.
“The biggest thing for me is beating Oldham next week and winning at home. If we can get into second then that’s brilliant. If we can’t then we want to come third.
“Walsall have a game in hand against Shrewsbury on Tuesday and all we can do, as we have done for a long time, is take care of ourselves and take care of what we can control. And what we can control is performances like Saturday’s at Bury.
“We have come a long way to get into the play-offs and we wont be fussy if we are home or away first or second leg.”
Chris Taylor scored two goals and assisted one in Millwall’s 3-1 win over the Shakers on Saturday.
And Harris praised the midfielder’s contribution to the Lions’ promotion charge after a fine individual performance.
Harris said” “Tayls had a smashing start, scoring on his second debut against Sheffield United within the first couple of minutes, and he has been consistent.
“He has been consistent up until Fleetwood the other night where by his own admission he didn’t have a very good game and he said: ‘Gaffer, I owe you a goal or two.’ And he produced that against Bury.
“Since coming back Chris has added his quality and experience to the group and he adds guidance to the youngsters and plays the Millwall way. That is really key.”
