MILLWALL boss Gary Rowett hopes that his side’s 2-1 win against Bristol City can help them overcome their mental block on the road.
The Lions took until October 15th to record their first away win of the season, with their last victory outside of SE16 coming all the way back at the start of March.
Rowett previously admitted that he believed his side was facing a mental block when it came to playing games away from The Den, but he is optimistic that Saturday’s win at Ashton Gate can give them the confidence to improve their performances on the road in the coming weeks and months.
Asked about the aforementioned psychological barrier, Rowett explained: “It will spark the end of it, but whether we can go and win more away games is a different matter.
“I don’t think there’s anything there to stop us, that’s the key. You’ve had a good performance against Rotherham where we really should have won the game. You’ve had a performance today with lots of good things and we’ve won the game.
“I don’t think there is anything mentality-wise to stop us from doing it, it was massively important today. It’s a difficult place to come.
“We’ve got two difficult home games coming up against good teams, but it’s a good end to the week going into next week full of confidence.”
