IN the corresponding fixture last season Millwall stormed into a two-goal lead before they were pegged back and dropped two points.
They were in the top six at that stage, though, and went on to finish fourth. Last Tuesday’s 3-3 draw at Rochdale when they also went 2-0 up before being pegged back leaves them outside the play-off places on goal difference.
Neil Harris’ side can go sixth in the early kick-off with a win, with sixth-placed Southend at AFC Wimbledon later in the day.
Harris has no injury problems and could make changes to his side. Mahlon Romeo came on for Shaun Cummings at Spotland, while Ben Thompson could come in for Calum Butcher this weekend.
Millwall may have drawn four of their last six games to make automatic promotion more remote, but they are on a 16-game unbeaten league run.
Swindon, however, are in deep relegation trouble, seven points behind Shrewsbury and safety with a game more played.
Luke Williams’ side have lost four successive games in March and have won just two of their last 12.
Williams was effusive in his praise for Saturday’s visitors to the County Ground, and is particularly wary of Lee Gregory and Steve Morison – who have 30 goals between them this season – and Harris’ ability to maximise his side’s work output.
“I think the team represent the manager very well and you can really see the personality on the pitch,” Williams told Gazette & Herald.
“The two strikers are outstanding. For the level, they are the perfect partnership. They work so well together and the team respect them enormously and play to their strengths.
“There is no end to the work-rate and the amount of running and the commitment. It’s what you’d expect from Neil Harris and what you’d expect from Millwall. It’s a big test for us again.
“They are going to run the hard miles and that means you get less time on the ball as they are always willing to press you. They will play forward quickly and back it up with willing runners.
“They always try to start games brightly and impose themselves on you and let you know you are playing against Millwall.
“The fans will play their part, too, so we need to be ready for that and that’s part and parcel of playing Millwall.”
Midfielder Anton Rodgers is Swindon’s only injury doubt.
There will be a minute’s silence before kick-off to remember those killed and injured in Wednesday’s Westminster attack.
