NEIL Harris expects Bolton Wanderers to “come out fighting” after their 3-0 defeat at Derby last Saturday left them just two points above the relegation zone.
That was Bolton’s third successive defeat and they are on a run of just one win in eight games.
That’s in contrast to the Lions, who have won 10 and drawn five of their last 15 league games.
But Bolton beat Millwall twice in League One last season, and Harris is wary they will be scrapping for the points.
“It’s a Phil Parkinson side so they are going to be resolute, a tough nut to crack. They’ll be very competitive, that’s for sure,” Harris said.
“There has been some criticism going their way the last week or so and they’ll come out fighting. We have to make sure we’re right at it and fortunately for us at the moment the boys are in great form and going into every game confident and ready for the battle.
“That’s going to be what it’s like at Bolton. You’ve got to win the fight first, your individual duels.
“We have to make sure we’re the hungrier team, that we’re competitive in everything we do on Tuesday night.
“And then we’ve got the quality as well, which we saw with the goals at the weekend.”
Harris could name the same side for the 10th time in 11 games on Tuesday night.
He said: “They’ll be good to go again. I made it very clear a few months ago the team would be picked on the basis of each game but also who deserved to have the shirt.
“I’ve got players not in the starting XI desperate to play, that talk to me weekly and like to remind me that they want to play but also respect the fact that their team-mates and friends are flying.
“I like speaking to the players. Macca [Conor McLaughlin], Thommo [Ben Thompson], Fergie [Shane Ferguson], those three in particular and Harry Toffolo, have been slightly out of the equation but they realise their importance still.
“It’s their training standards, their desire and quality that keeps the other players driving because they know they want their place in the team.”
