MILLWALL’S Lee Gregory hopes his injury-time goal against Nottingham Forest will turn around the Lions’ season.
Gregory struck in the 91st minute at the City Ground on Wednesday night to cap a two-goal comeback against Forest.
Millwall have won just one of 11 games in the Championship this season, and relied on Gregory’s late strike to avoid another defeat.
“We didn’t deserve to go one down in the first half, they had one shot,” Gregory said. “But that’s our luck at the minute. But we’re so happy to turn it around, that’s what’s happened to us in so many games, it feels good to be back.
“Last year we beat Leeds 4-3 away and it’s games like that that turn your season around. Hopefully we can kick on on Saturday [against Aston Villa], I can’t wait for that now. Hopefully we’ll get back to winning ways Saturday.
“It’s the same as last year, couldn’t get any luck in the game. I’ve hit the bar in the first half and it’s bounced out. They’ve hit the bar in the second half and it’s gone in.
“But we kept digging in and digging in and we got our luck.”
Gregory has scored two goals in his last two games, after not scoring since the opening day.
He said: “We were in training and the gaffer pulled the strikers to one side and said, ‘you’re not going to score in every game, but as a unit I want the strikers to get one a game’. We’re on that target now so we just have to keep going, whether it’s me, Moro [Steve Morison], T [Tom Elliott], Bradders [Tom Bradshaw], Aiden O’Brien, whatever, as long as we keep getting chances.
“First half we had loads of chances, and maybe I should have put my chance away. But sometimes you just have to keep going and luckily I got one.”
