JORDAN Archer said Millwall players “haven’t just been putting our feet up” during the international break as they aim to find the formula to get back to winning ways.
The Lions went into the break with a 2-1 win over Gillingham in the EFL Trophy and had a day off before beginning working on areas that need to be improved ahead of the trip to sixth-placed Northampton this weekend.
Chief among those areas is defence, with Millwall having conceded the third-most number of goals in League One behind only Gillingham and Southend.
Archer admitted it is a puzzle why the side has been so porous, but is hoping the victory over the Gills can spur them to improve their league form.
“We can’t quite put our finger on it but have been working hard in training to put things right,” Archer said. “We’re conceding far too many goals at the moment.
“It’s nothing individual, it’s just that as a team we haven’t been as solid as we were last season. I’m sure we can get it right and there is still a long way to go in the season.
“We had a couple of days off but every day we’ve been in we’ve been working hard. We haven’t just been putting our feet up. The results in the past couple of months haven’t been good enough and we’re attempting to change that.
“We’ve been in a bit of a sticky patch but we’re aiming to put things right.
“It was good that we managed to go into the break with a win over Gillingham on the Tuesday night, and we’ve been working hard since then.”
