A new Co-op store will open in Elephant and Castle shopping centre this Friday.
The store is taking over part of the former Tesco on the ground floor, landlords Delancey confirmed.
It will have a ‘food-to-go’ focus – with fresh fruit, ready-to-eat hot food and a bakery.
Diana Barranco, the community director of Elephant and Castle Town Centre, said: “We are excited about the opening of the new Co-op store.
“It is important that the shopping centre continues to be a vibrant shopping destination for the local community.
“We hope the opening of Co-op will help towards boosting footfall and supporting trade in the centre.”
Metro Tesco took the decision to permanently close its Elephant and Castle store after being closed for several weeks due to a mouse infestation.
