Police have made an appeal after a man was left with a brain bleed having been hit on the head with a metal pole in a “heinous” robbery.
Detectives have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which left the victim in a life-threatening condition.
On Saturday, December 10, shortly before 7.25am, the victim, in his twenties, got off a bus in Rushey Green, Catford, and was approached from behind by an unknown man.
Police say he was hit over the head with a metal pole and had his bag stolen.
A suspect then walked off and boarded the 185 bus to Victoria, which runs through Forest Hill, Dulwich, Camberwell and Kennington.
Following the attack, the victim was rushed to a south London hospital where his condition was initially classed as life-threatening.
A CT scan revealed he’d suffered a brain bleed. Fortunatley, he was later discharged from hospital.
Detective Sergeant Laura Warden, from the South East area’s Robbery Squad, said: “This was an extremely violent robbery, which left the victim fighting for his life. We are determined to bring the person responsible for this heinous crime to justice.
“We have now released an image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the robbery. It is a very clear image, so if that is you in the picture or if you know who it is, then please contact us as soon as possible.”
