Sadiq Khan has announced a new million pound pot of funding for community groups and charities to kickstart London’s post-pandemic recovery.
The announcement coincides with London’s first ever ‘festival of ideas’, running until July 23.
Throughout the summer 150 events are being held in community centres, gardens, playgrounds and art studios across the city, with help from City Hall and City Bridge Trust funding.
Many of the groups had come together to support Londoners throughout the pandemic. Now they are working with City Hall to come up with ideas about how they can help shape the future of the city.
The mayor said: “London’s community organisations and charities have played a vital role in supporting Londoners through this pandemic, despite the unique challenges of volunteering during COVID-19.
“I am incredibly proud to be supporting these organisations and helping them to continue their essential work through the London Festival of Ideas and our new community grants fund.”
