A stand at Fisher FC’s St Paul’s ground will be named after Bermondsey’s Barry Albin-Dyer, as a commemoration of his life by Southwark Council.
Barry was the funeral director of F. A. Albin & Sons and passed away last year, after a life spent comforting families across Southwark and carrying out charitable work.
The family of Barry Albin-Dyer said: “We are grateful to the officials of Southwark Council and the members of Fisher Athletic for the honour of naming this new stand after our father.
“Dad was a supporter of Fisher FC and later joined the board and helped the club progress and enjoyed some good times with them.
“We see this as a fitting tribute to a man who did so much for the club and his local community.”
A plaque unveiling for the new Barry Albin-Dyer Stand is planned to take place later this year.
Councillor Maisie Anderson, Southwark Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, Parks and Leisure, said: “We really wanted to find a fitting way help commemorate Barry in the local community.
“Naming a stand after him at the newly completed St Paul’s Sports Ground, the new home of Fisher FC a team we know he closely supported, seemed like a great fit.”
