Two people were hospitalised after a serious crash on Old Kent Road on Sunday night.
Images from the scene show one car flipped upside down next to another vehicle with a crumpled bumper near the junction with Glengall Road.
A spokesperson for the Met confirmed that officers were called by paramedics at 9.14pm to a collision believed to involve two cars.
Two ambulances, two cars, a response officer and the air ambulance response car all raced to the scene to treat two injured people.
Both casualties were rushed to a major trauma centre.
A Met spokesperson said their injuries were believed to be ‘non life-threatening’.
Their current condition is unknown.
Police say the road re-opened at around 11pm the same night, and as yet no arrests have been made.
