Celebrations are being held at Lavender Pond in Rotherhithe next month to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the nature reserve, writes Jack Friend..
A set of family activities such as pond dipping are set to be on offer the weekend commencing the 9th July as the nature reserve appeals for people of all ages to come and join in with festivities on the 9th and 10th July.
Mike Turner, Senior Project Officer for the reserve said: “Lavender Pond is a special little site, and I’m really glad that after 40 years it is able to still do the same things that it was initially set up to do”
The Lavender Pond first opened in 1982 and has recently been transformed in the last year thanks to support from Southwark Council with new reinforced walls new planted banks.
