German primary school students visited Bermondsey last week, taking in some of south London’s iconic landmarks and spending time with Boutcher School children.
The fifteen boys and girls from Grundschule Godshorn in Langenhagen had a “fantastic time”, according to trip organiser Birgit Naeschke.
She said: “Everyone at Boutcher was so friendly and we visited so many great sites. The weather was also incredible, which we did not expect!”
The group flew in on June 29 and spent their first day meeting their “Boutcher buddies”, before taking a spin on the London Eye. Over the next five days they visited the Tower Bridge Exhibition, met the Mayor of Southwark, took part in music and cookery lessons and played out a tennis tournament with Boutcher students.
Last Friday, however, it was time for the students to say auf wiedersehen to their new friends and fly home to Germany.
