AIDEN O’Brien and Jiri Skalak started for Millwall under-23s in their Professional Development League win over Crystal Palace on Monday, while Mason Bennett trained with the first team.
O’Brien scored the only goal at Calmont Road from Tyler Burey’s cross in the 44th minute.
Billy Mitchell and George Alexander were also in Kevin Nugent’s side in the 1-0 victory.
Lions boss Gary Rowett gave an update on Bennett as Millwall prepare for their Championship clash against Wigan at the DW Stadium next Saturday.
“There’s a game today but I chose not to play him in that because I want him to get a full week’s training,” Rowett said before the fixture.
“Aiden’s going to play for match fitness. Jiri’s going to play, he asked to play, which is great. Billy will play, we’ve got to maintain his fitness. He’s done so well being involved with the first team but sometimes if you fall into that little category of not quite getting on the pitch, travelling but not getting in the squad and not training as much, sometimes you don’t get enough [training] load in the week as you need to develop.
“Mason won’t so [play] will get a full week’s training. If he’d got through the 23s game [last Monday] he’d have been involved Wednesday [against Fulham]. He didn’t quite get through it as well as I’d like, got his injury and then didn’t train until Friday.
“We only trained 45 minutes to an hour on Friday so it wasn’t enough to be involved. He’ll have to get through this week to have a chance at the weekend.
“It doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to be involved, it just means he’ll be available and ready.”
