BILLY Mitchell is a big fan of teammate Casper De Norre – but is aware that it will take time to fully cement their midfield alliance.
The two Millwall stars have started both league games together after the Belgian was signed from OH Leuven this summer.
And despite the inconsistent performances by the Lions collectively in the opening week of the season, Mitchell has spotted a star in his 26-year-old teammate.
He told NewsAtDen: “I think Casper’s going to be a fantastic player. He was probably our best player on the weekend [against Bristol City] amid the poor performance. I think he’s showing the fans loads of nice touches, tonnes of energy. All the reasons why he’s going to be great player for us this season and why he’s going to fit in really well.
“Me and Casper are still working each other out. I have a really good understanding of what Sav [George Saville] naturally likes to do and that has come over the course of playing many, many games together.
“Casper and I have played less than five games with each other. It’s just going to take time, and that’s natural. Hopefully we can begin to form a really good partnership or he can with Sav if he plays.”
Mitchell and De Norre may get an extra day together on the training pitch this week with Millwall’s weekend Championship game moved to Sunday.
They will now face Norwich in front of the Sky Sports cameras at 12pm, and Mitchell revealed he’s a fan of the early start.
He said: “I think the majority of the first-team players prefer it. Less time waiting around, we can just get out there and get the game done, less time to think.
“So far this season we’ve been better away from home than we have at home so we’ll be looking forward to that game. Norwich are obviously a tough side to play again but no doubt we can get a result.”
