JOHN Marquis scored on his first start for Northampton since his loan move from Millwall as his new club won 2-1 at York City on Tuesday night to extend their record sequence of league victories to ten.
James Collins gave Chris Wilder’s side the lead before Marquis doubled the advantage in the 51st minute when he tapped home Collins’ cross.
Lee Martin was on the bench as Northampton stretched their lead at the top of League Two to 12 points. They broke their club record of consecutive league wins against Wycombe last weekend.
Wilder was thrilled with the impact Marquis, 23, made, telling the Herald & Post: “I thought John was outstanding, exactly what we wanted – energy, aggression, a goal threat so he can be delighted with his second debut.”
