NEIL Harris says he isn’t expecting a busy transfer deadline day with the window to recruit players set to close until January at 11 o’clock on Wednesday night.
Harris made Calum Butcher his fourth first-team signing of the summer last week, and on Tuesday speculation surrounding the future of Jordan Archer ended when it was confirmed he had signed the three-year deal that had been on the table from the club for a number of weeks.
Sheffield United made an enquiry for Byron Webster last week but sources close to the player told NewsAtDen he is happy at Millwall.
Harris has also had the worry of potentially losing last season’s top scorer Lee Gregory this summer, but Millwall successfully fended off interest in him from Championship Rotherham.
Millers boss Alan Stubbs hasn’t categorically ruled out another late approach for Gregory, and asked after the 2-0 EFL Trophy win over West Brom U23s on Tuesday night if he was happy the transfer window is drawing to a close, Harris said: “I’ll be happy at 11 o’clock tomorrow night.”
Pressed on whether he expected a busy day, he said: “I hope not.”
