JIMMY Abdou came on at half-time to help inspire AFC Wimbledon to a stunning second-half comeback at Walsall at the weekend.
The Dons looked dead and buried when they went into the break 2-0 down. But Joe Pigott scored in the 48th minute before Lyle Taylor levelled and Dean Parrett grabbed a dramatic 96th-minute winner from the spot.
The result moved Neal Ardley’s side four points clear of the bottom three in League One.
Sid Nelson’s Chesterfield dropped closer to relegation from the Football League after losing 1-0 at home to Mansfield on Saturday.
Nelson was on the bench for the Spireites, who are seven points adrift of Grimsby. Chesterfield have played 41 games and have two in hand on The Mariners.
Defender James Brown played 70 minutes for Carlisle in their 1-1 draw at Morecambe. Kris Twardek was an unused substitute. Carlisle are five points off the fourth-tier play-off spots.
A current and former Lions goalkeeper went head-to-head at the weekend in League Two. David Forde’s Cambridge United came out on top, winning 2-0 at Tom King’s Stevenage.
Stevenage are heading for a mid-table finish.
In National League South, Jamie Philpot’s Welling United slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Whitehawk and are now four points off the play-offs.
