TOM King kept his place in goal and helped AFC Wimbledon to successive wins for the first time this season against fellow League One strugglers Plymouth.
The Dons came from behind to win 2-1 through goals from Anthony Wordsworth and Mitch Pinnock.
Wally Downes’ side dragged themselves off the foot of the table with the win, to be replaced by the Pilgrims.
Ben Thompson’s Portsmouth lost just their fourth game of the season and had their lead at the top of League One cut to a point back to Luton after a 2-0 defeat at Gillingham on Boxing Day.
Kenny Jackett’s Pompey had 20 efforts on goal but Josh Parker and a Callum Reilly scored in the final minute of each half to hand the Gills three points.
Fred Onyedinma couldn’t help Wycombe avoid slumping to a second successive festive defeat, as they lost 3-1 at Burton.
Onyedinma played the full game as the Chairboys dropped to 12th in the third tier.
In League Two, Sid Nelson played in the centre of defence as Swindon came from behind to draw 1-1 at Northampton.
And in National League South, right-back Danny McNamara’s Welling United beat ex-Lions striker Jamie Philpot’s Dartford 2-0 to move up to third in the table.
