CHIN OKOLI scored his first senior goal as he helped Bromley to a 2-2 draw on the first of two bank holiday weekend games.
As is traditional in the National League, fifth-tier clubs play twice during the last weekend of August with Bromley heading to Rochdale on Friday night.
Okoli scored a very impressive diving header to open the scoreline after a cross from teammate Josh Passley.
The 19-year-old defender’s unorthodox technique saw him dive in the direction of the cross but arc his neck to get swivel on the ball, which bounced off the inside of the post before going in.
A further three goals and two read cards would follow in the clash at Spotland with Bromley eventually having to settle for a point.
Their first win of the season did finally come yesterday as they beat Southend 2-1 at home to jump up to 17th.
Nana Boateng, the striker on loan at Woking, is having an even better time of things in terms of league position with his club seventh having registered two wins in three days.
First came a 3-1 triumph at Gateshead before a 2-0 win over Dorking Wanderers on bank holiday Monday.
Boateng came off the bench for 20 minutes in the first game, with only a booking to show for his efforts, while he got 18 minutes in the second match.
Also coming on as a substitute was Alex Mitchell, making his first appearance for Lincoln City.
The defender arrived in the final 11 minutes, replacing Adam Jackson, in a 3-0 win over 10-man Blackpool.
Lincoln sit fourth in the early League One table after an impressive start under Mark Kennedy. Mitchell will hope for more game time in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup trip to Sheffield United.
In League Two, Salford City’s fast start was hindered by Accrington Stanley, who took an impressive 2-1 win at the Peninsula Stadium on Saturday.
Millwall loanee keeper Joe Wright was left on the bench again and is still eagerly awaiting his first appearance for the club, who host Leeds United in the League Cup tonight.
