Police were called to the Slippers Estate in Bermondsey to reports of a firearm being discharged yesterday evening (Monday, March 20).
Officers attended at 8.45pm on Monday night and found damage to a communal door at Arica House.
There have been no reports of any injuries and no arrests have been made.
An Arica House resident told the News that two panes of glass in the block’s communal entrance had been shattered.
Police erected a police cordon and shut off at least one ground-floor entrance.
Some officers appeared to be wearing forensic clothing.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 20:45hrs on Monday, 20 March to reports of a firearm discharge in Slippers Place, SE16.
“Officers attended the scene and found damage to a communal door at the location.
“No reports of any injuries and no arrests. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
