Fisher continued their mini-rival in the SCEFL Premier Division as they registered back-to-back league wins for the first time this season by beating Welling Town 3-1 in Rotherhithe last weekend.
Goals from Cedric Nganga just before half-time and Michael Sarpong and Billy Brown after the break helped Ajay Ashanike’s side to three precious points that lifted them off the bottom of the table above Canterbury City in 20th.
Nganga gave the hosts the lead with a brilliant goal. Darnelle Bailey-King’s cross from the right was headed away from Luke With but only as far as Nganga on the left side of the penalty area and he hit the bouncing ball first time into the far corner.
The Fish doubled their advantage just four minutes after half-time and it was a slightly scrappier effort as Sarpong hooked home following some head tennis from a corner.
Despite dominating, Fisher saw their lead halved when a harmless-looking free-kick drifted all the way in as goalkeeper Justice Owusu was caught out. Sarpong was booked following a scuffle as the visitors tried to retrieve the ball and Ashanike was red-carded after a heated exchange on the sideline.
Fisher then made sure of the points with ten minutes left when Isaac Thompson got to a through-ball and was set to finish before the defence recovered, only for the ball to land at the feet of Brown who finished into an empty net.
There was still some drama as both sides were reduced to ten men late on, Lewis Duberry receiving his marching orders for the home team.
Fisher are back on the road this Saturday as they travel to Erith & Belvedere for a 3pm kick-off.
